USA- Fingerling Chinook Salmon Migrate by Truck
Add to Cart DownloadTruckloads of Fingerling Chinook salmon are pumped into floating holding pens along the Mare Island Strait in Vallejo, California. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service expects to haul about 30 million of the young salmon from the Coleman National Hatchery near Red Bluff in climate-controlled tanker trucks during the operation. Due to the worst drought to hit California in 40 years, the program protects the 3-inch long salmon from low river flows, warm water and predators on their journey to the Pacific Ocean.
